What Income Can Be Contributed To A Traditional IRA?

As long as you do not exceed annual contribution limits, if you have earned income from working for yourself or someone else, you can contribute to a Traditional IRA. If your only income is social security or passive income, such as interest, dividends, rental income, or capital gains, that income is not considered earned and you won’t be able to use it to make IRA contributions.
