How to Invest In a Marketplace Offering

The Alto Marketplace was launched in the fall of 2023 after Alto received our Broker Dealer license. Now, instead of simply facilitating deals that you know of personally or that you're able to identify through our partners, our investment team sources and does due diligence on specific private market opportunities (VC, PE, Real Estate, etc.) to increase access to alternative offerings for our accredited investors.

This article will take you step by step through the Marketplace investment process. First, we'll cover how to submit your commitment to a Marketplace offering (Part 1). Then, we'll explain how to finalize and execute your Marketplace investment once it has been approved by the Alto Securities team (Part 2).

Part 1: Submitting Your Commitment

Step 1: Log in to your Alto account and click “Invest” and then “Marketplace” on your main dashboard

Step 2: Click on “View Offering” for the offering you want to invest in

Step 3: On the right-hand side, click on “Invest” to be routed to our backend execution platform

Step 4: On the page you are routed to, click on “Invest” in the top right corner

Step 5: Input your commitment amount and click on “Submit”

Step 6a: Input your personal information so we can verify your identity.

Note: Ensure that your “Entity Name” is in the format “AltoIRA Custodian FBO {First and Last Name} {IRA Type} IRA.”

For Example: “AltoIRA Custodian FBO John Smith Roth IRA”

Step 6b: Input your SSN and select your Tax Entity Type as an “IRA”

Step 7a: Select the manner in which you are an accredited investor. You only need to select one option, even if you fit multiple definitions.

Note: you will need to upload documentation to verify your accreditation status for whichever option you select.

Step 7b: Upload documentation to verify your status as an accredited investor per your selection above

Step 8: Select yourself as the “primary signer” for the subscription agreement and click “Continue.”

Step 9: Complete all required fields in the subscription agreement. The top of the page will indicate how many fields you have left. Clicking the “Next” button at the top will bring you to the section(s) you need to complete. You only need to complete sections with the red asterisks.

Step 10: Click on “Confirm Commitment” to submit your commitment fully.

Step 11: You’re done! The Alto Securities team will now submit your accreditation documentation for review, typically taking 1-2 business days. If any additional information is requested, the Alto team will contact you directly.

When your accreditation is verified, and your account is fully funded, your investment will be approved and ready for your last e-signature on the Direction of Investment, authorizing Alto to execute this transaction on your behalf.

Part 2: Executing Your Investment

Step 1: You will receive an email notifying you that your transaction has been approved. Click “Log In Here” to log in to your Alto account.

Step 2: Once logged in to your Alto account, navigate to the Marketplace
