How Long Will It Take For My Funds To Transfer To My Alto IRA From My Existing Custodian?

Some custodians tend to take longer than others.

It depends on your existing custodian. For example, certain custodians will wire funds on behalf of their clients, while others only mail checks. You can find a full list of Transferring Custodians' contact information here. If you don't see your current custodian on this list, please feel free to reach out. We'll gather their information and add them to our list.

The amount of time it takes to fund your account will vary based on your existing IRA custodian. For example, if you use Fidelity or Charles Schwab, they can move money over to Alto in a few days via direct ACH or wire transfer. On the other hand, Betterment (or other custodians with comparable transfer processes) will likely take 10+ business days to transfer money to an Alto IRA as they will not do ACH/wires and insist on sending the money via check to the investor (you), who will then have to send the check to us.
